A flight to Entebbe brings you to the forested shore of Lake Victoria. Just 40km from the capital of Uganda, busy Kampala, Entebbe is best known as the international gateway to Uganda thanks to Entebbe International Airport. Discover Uganda’s rich wildlife at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre where white rhinos, lions and leopards are found, just outside Entebbe on the Kampala road. The century-old Entebbe Botanical Garden is definitely worth a visit to hear monkeys and birds chatter amongst tropical foliage. Or ride a motorboat to an island in the Ssese archipelago in Lake Victoria (45km south of Entebbe) to relax on beautiful beaches. Further afield, the Bwindi National Park (500km from Entebbe) offers a unique opportunity to meet one of man’s closest relatives – the mountain gorilla. Mix with the locals in the Kitoro suburb of Entebbe where many informal restaurants are found; barbecued meats are very popular, and tasty. Every Tuesday, Kitoro is engulfed by a vibrant market – a tourist attraction in its own right. |
