Flights from London Heathrow to Windhoek

Windhoek

A flight to Windhoek takes you to Namibia’s fascinating and attractive capital, which celebrated its independence from South Africa as recently as 1990. Explore this clean and compact city on foot and visit the Tintenpalast (Ink Palace), which houses Namibia's fledgling parliament.
Discover Windhoek’s origins at the city’s oldest surviving building Alte Feste (old fort), which houses Namibia's National Museum. A visit to Windhoek’s Penduka Project Centre on the banks of the Goreangab Dam will have you laden down with hand-embroidered textiles, batik and pottery.
Windhoek lies in a beautiful valley bordered by the Eros Mountains in the north and the Auas mountains in the south. Take a day trip to the Daan Viljeon wildlife resort, 25km outside of Windhoek in the Khomas Hochland hills, to see zebras, springbok, blue wildebeest and red hartebeest.
Locals in Windhoek flock to the busy Tukondjeni Market where you can sample the delights of traditional Namibian food. Don’t be afraid to try fried Mopane worms or the Ombidi plant – a locally grown wild spinach. By contrast, Windhoek’s German colonial era is still in evidence in many restaurants where traditional German dishes, bread and beer are on offer.
